A Curated Space of Timeless Narratives

The FWAAMCC is dedicated to sharing the African American story as lived here and  beyond.  This flexible space was designed for curated exhibits, traveling showcases, important discussions, community gatherings, classes and creativity.  It is a place where understanding is nurtured through sincerity, unblinking honesty, and shared expression.

Our Mission:

To rigorously explore and proudly express local and national African American history and culture to enlighten, inspire, engage, and challenge everyone toward better understanding and a more just society.

Our Vision:

“We honor the past, celebrate the present, inspire the future and build community”

About Our Logo:

This symbol comes from the Akan people of Ghana.  It is known there as “Nea Onnim No Sua A, Ohu.”   The phrase translates to mean “He who does not know can learn.”  This powerful idea sets the stage for better understanding and a more just society, because it is only through learning about each other that we can overcome what we do not know.
